Blue Cross Says $66M Underpayment Suit Lacks Specifics

Law360, New York (October 2, 2012, 3:52 PM EDT) -- Blue Cross Blue Shield insurers across the country on Monday asked a federal judge to toss a $66 million lawsuit from two Texas hospitals over alleged underpayments, saying they’d been improperly lumped together and subjected to excessively vague accusations of wrongdoing.

In four separate motions, two dozen Blue Cross entities say that claims brought under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act lack specifics about how the various nonprofit insurance companies failed to fork over enough cash for claims submitted by the medical centers.
