Antitrust Attack Against Weyerhaeuser Renewed

Law360, New York (October 24, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Undeterred by a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Weyerhaeuser Co.’s favor, Morelock Enterprises Inc. is pushing forward with a potential class action against the forest products giant over the alleged abuse of its monopoly position in the alder lumber industry.

On Tuesday, Morelock filed its third amended complaint in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, accusing Weyerhaeuser of illegally maintaining its stranglehold on the alder lumber market through a series of unlawful acquisitions and exclusionary threats.
