EPA Agrees To Review Standards For Municipal Landfills

Law360, New York (October 2, 2012, 3:15 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Monday agreed to consider revising standards for municipal solid waste landfills, resolving a lawsuit filed by the Environmental Defense Fund that alleged the agency had violated the Clean Air Act by not doing so.

A consent decree between the two parties states that by May 1, 2013, the EPA will perform an appropriate review and sign for publication either a proposed rule revising municipal solid waste landfills rules or a proposed determination not to revise the standards.
