Romney Would Keep ACOs, Other Medicare Reforms: Adviser

Law360, New York (October 2, 2012, 4:09 PM EDT) -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who has vowed to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act if elected, would maintain some of the law's Medicare delivery system reforms, such as accountable care organizations, a campaign adviser said Tuesday.

"In a repeal-and-replace bill, the concept of delivery system reform would be front and center," said Thomas Barker, former acting general counsel for the Department of Health and Human Services under President George W. Bush and partner at Foley Hoag LLP.
