Brown Rudnick's Bad Advice Led To $3M Penalty, SOI Says

Law360, New York (October 3, 2012, 4:52 PM EDT) -- Surgical Orthomedics Inc. has sued Brown Rudnick LLP in New Jersey for allegedly failing to provide proper legal advice in a dispute over noncompete agreements for the sale of spine and tissue products, resulting in an arbitration decision of more than $3.3 million against the company.

SOI's suit, filed Sept. 26, contends the firm and Emilio Galvan, a partner in Brown Rudnick's New York office, botched their representation of the company against Howmedica Osteonics Corp. and its Stryker Spine division. The complaint claims the defendants failed...
