5th Circ. Gives Go-Ahead To American Airlines Union Vote

Law360, Los Angeles (October 3, 2012, 5:39 PM EDT) -- The Fifth Circuit on Wednesday reversed a district court’s June decision blocking a vote on whether the Communication Workers of America can represent nearly 10,000 American Airlines Inc. passenger service agents, saying the lower court had no jurisdiction to rule for the bankrupt carrier.

Wednesday’s decision clears the way for the National Mediation Board to hold an election on the CWA’s bid to represent about 9,400 American Airline workers.
