$5M Settlement Enlists Highmark In UPMC Antitrust Fight

Law360, New York (October 4, 2012, 8:26 PM EDT) -- Health insurer Highmark Inc. will shell out up to $4.8 million and help health insurance buyers who filed an antitrust suit against Highmark and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center make their case against UPMC as part of a class settlement, the plaintiffs said Thursday.

Plaintiffs Pamela Lang, Royal Mile Co. Inc. and Cole's Wexford Hotel Inc. asked a federal judge in Pittsburgh to preliminarily approve the deal, which calls for Highmark to put up $4.5 million to cover attorneys' fees for class counsel and other...
