Taxi Operators Claim Mobile App Uber Misleads Riders

Law360, New York (October 5, 2012, 2:16 PM EDT) -- Chicago taxi and limo service operators sued mobile car-hailing service provider Uber Technologies Inc. in Illinois federal court Thursday, accusing the technology company of tricking customers into thinking it is partnering with the city's transportation groups.

Uber's service avoids traditional dispatch systems and directly contacts drivers without permission from legally operating taxicab and livery companies, according to the suit.
