Overdraft Fee Claims Stay In Arbitration After High Court Snub

Law360, New York (October 9, 2012, 6:34 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to consider challenges from customers of Regions Financial Corp. and SunTrust Banks Inc. over the Eleventh Circuit's decision to send their class action disputes over excessive and improperly charged overdraft fees to arbitration.

Regions customers Lawrence D. Hough and Pamela J. Hough filed a petition for a writ of certiorari July 26 over the appeals' court decision in March saying Regions' tough arbitration rules in customer deposit agreements — which hold the plaintiffs liable for the bank's arbitration expenses...
