NYPSC Defends Plans For $78M Constellation Settlement

Law360, Washington (October 16, 2012, 3:35 PM EDT) -- The New York Public Service Commission on Monday blasted opposition to its plan to disburse $48 million of Constellation Energy Commodities Group Inc.'s $78 million manipulative trading settlement to ratepayers, saying some groups are looking for a bigger share of the pie and are ignoring benefits that could stem from other investments.

While neighboring states, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and the AARP have all objected to the commission's decision to spend $30 million of their settlement cut on consumer advocacy and technological advancements,...
