Illumina Patent Claims Invalidated In DNA Sequencing Row

Law360, New York (October 17, 2012, 7:22 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Tuesday invalidated nine of Illumina's claims to a patent covering a DNA sequencing method that Complete Genomics Inc. is accused of flouting.

U.S. District Judge Elizabeth D. Laporte, in siding with Complete Genomics, ruled that certain claims of U.S. Patent Number 6,306,597 were anticipated or made obvious by a 1993 patent application on a sequencing by ligation method filed in Great Britain by an Oxford professor.
