Japan Should Adopt An Anti-SLAPP Statute

Law360, New York (October 18, 2012, 1:36 PM EDT) -- The Japanese are considering enacting an anti-Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation statute. At first glance, this is surprising because Japan is highly ranked by Reporters Without Borders, which compares the freedom of the press in countries all over the world. According to that organization, Japan’s rank is 22nd best in the world — above the United Kingdom (28th) and the United States (47th).
