Wireless Industry 'Bill Shock' Reforms Keep FCC Regs On Hold

Law360, New York (October 18, 2012, 6:28 PM EDT) -- The Federal Communications Commission on Wednesday endorsed the wireless phone industry's self-regulatory effort to stave off government mandates by voluntarily providing consumers with free notifications when they accumulate unexpected overage charges.

Exactly one year after the FCC and the wireless telecommunications trade association CTIA unveiled a joint agreement establishing voluntary guidelines aimed at curbing sudden unexpected increases in consumers' wireless bills, the FCC revealed that each participating industry member had satisfied its obligation to provide by Oct. 17 at least two of the four required types...
