Russia Arrests TNK-BP Official For Selling Government Jobs

Law360, New York (October 19, 2012, 2:29 PM EDT) -- Russian authorities said Friday they had arrested a high-ranking government affairs executive at oil company TNK-BP Ltd., a joint venture of BP PLC and a Russian consortium, for allegedly trying to sell government posts to the highest bidder.

Igor Korneev, who until June served as a deputy chairman in the regional Irkutsk government in Siberia, allegedly offered to sell two businessmen high federal government posts for $3 million each, according to Russia's interior ministry.
