EU Set To Finish Single Bank Regulator Blueprint In 2012

Law360, New York (October 19, 2012, 1:42 PM EDT) -- European Union member states on Friday announced an agreement to complete by the end of the year the legal structure for a single banking regulator to oversee the financial sectors within countries that use the euro.

The new regulator would be housed within the European Central Bank but would be separated from the bank's monetary policy function, a memorandum issued by EU heads of state said.
