Patriot Coal Seeks 6 More Months To File Ch. 11 Plan

Law360, New York (October 19, 2012, 3:32 PM EDT) -- Patriot Coal Corp. asked a New York bankruptcy judge Thursday for six more months to file a Chapter 11 plan, saying it would let it avoid having to formulate a reorganization plan prematurely and develop a plan that best addresses constituents' needs.

Patriot and its 98 debtor subsidiaries asked U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Shelley C. Chapman to grant them a 180-day extension of the exclusivity period under Section 1121(d) of the Bankruptcy Code, allowing them six more months after the original cut-off dates of Nov. 6 to...
