Parents Sue Monster Beverage Over Daughter's Death

Law360, New York (October 19, 2012, 7:44 PM EDT) -- The parents of a 14-year-old girl who died after allegedly consuming Monster Beverage Corp. energy drinks slapped the company with a wrongful death suit Wednesday in California state court, litigation that comes amid a push by lawmakers for tougher regulation of the highly caffeinated products.

The suit, filed by Maryland residents Wendy Crossland and Richard Fournier on behalf of their late daughter, Anais Fournier, is believed to be the first wrongful death suit against Monster, according to plaintiffs' counsel Goldberg Finnegan & Mester LLC.
