SEC Counts 1,500 Fund Advisers Registered Under Dodd-Frank

Law360, New York (October 19, 2012, 8:00 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said on Friday that more than 1,500 advisers to hedge funds and other private funds have registered with the SEC since the Dodd-Frank Act came into force, which mandates such registration.

While some private fund advisers had registered voluntarily with the SEC in the past, the new requirement has given the agency its first comprehensive picture of the advisers to these types of funds, according to the SEC.
