Election Threatens McCaskill's Contractor Oversight Pulpit

Law360, New York (October 26, 2012, 4:05 PM EDT) -- With Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., facing a tough re-election battle, Congress could lose its most vocal advocate for government contractor oversight, and even if she's re-elected, turnover in Senate committee leadership could put her ad hoc Subcommittee on Contracting Oversight on the chopping block.

The latest Rasmussen polls, from Oct. 19, show McCaskill leading Republican challenger Todd Akin 51 percent to 43 percent. Akin's "legitimate rape" comments have helped cost him the lead he held over the summer.
