Microsoft's Windows 7 Infringes Streaming Patent, Suit Says

Law360, New York (October 23, 2012, 1:20 PM EDT) -- An Israeli technology company sued Microsoft Corp. on Friday in California federal court, claiming the software giant's Xbox gaming system, phones and other devices running on Windows 7 OS infringed a patent covering media streaming technology.

Emblaze Ltd. alleged that Microsoft’s IIS Smooth Streaming system — which is used to access videos, music and other live streaming multimedia content — as well as its Windows Azure media cloud services and Silverlight 2.0 software incorporate technology protected by Emblaze’s patent.
