Texas Tells UN Group To Back Off On Election Day

Law360, Houston (October 24, 2012, 6:01 PM EDT) -- The state of Texas on Tuesday warned a United Nations affiliate planning to send representatives to the state to monitor November’s general election that if the group attempts to interfere with voters at polling places, it could be met with criminal prosecution.

Noting the state’s “robust election laws” in a letter to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said the group may not enter or maintain a presence within 100 feet of polling locations.
