Ev3 To Pay $15.4M To Settle Two Patent Suits

Law360, New York (October 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Medical device maker ev3 Inc. has agreed to pay a total of $15.4 million to put to rest two pending patent infringement suits against Boston Scientific Corp. and the Regents of the University of California over embolic protection devices and detachable embolic coils.

Under the terms of its agreement with the university, ev3 will pay a one-time royalty payment of about $11.7 million, and claims of both parties will be dismissed with prejudice in litigation currently pending in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District...
