BrightSource Solar Wins Approval For Some Power Contracts

Law360, New York (October 26, 2012, 12:41 PM EDT) -- California regulators on Thursday approved two power purchase agreements for solar developer BrightSource Energy Inc. but denied three others, ending on a muted note an otherwise strong week for the company, which closed an $80 million equity raise and pushed into India and Australia.

The California Public Utility Commission approved two contracts that will see Southern California Edison buy power from the 250-megawatt Rio Mesa and the 300-megawatt Sonoran West projects. The 20-year deals begin when the solar farms come online in 2015 and 2017, respectively,...
