ACLU Rebuffed In Bid To Hasten Ruling On Voter ID Campaign

Law360, New York (October 26, 2012, 7:57 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania judge on Friday refused to move up the deadline by which the state must submit a defense of its media campaign promoting its controversial voter identification legislation, rebuffing public interest groups' attempt to get a quicker ruling as the general election approaches.

Judge Robert Simpson refused to change his Oct. 30 deadline for the state to submit briefs defending its current media campaign on the state’s voter ID law, whose complete implementation the judge temporarily halted in an Oct. 2 ruling.
