FERC Approves Calif. Operator's Power Market Proposal

Law360, New York (October 29, 2012, 4:31 PM EDT) -- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Friday approved a proposal by the California grid operator to reduce its reliance on out-of-market power, but ordered it to detail additional steps it will take to reach that goal.

FERC gave the California Independent System Operator the green light to revise its tariff to discourage bidding that makes it more prone to using so-called exceptional dispatches to prevent short-term reliability problems.
