DOJ May Challenge $500M AUO Price-Fixing Fine

Law360, New York (October 31, 2012, 7:32 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice lodged a notice of appeal Tuesday of AU Optronics Corp.'s $500 million price-fixing fine, a penalty that was half what the antitrust watchdog sought in its case against the liquid crystal display maker.

The notice indicated that the government "hereby appeals" to the Ninth Circuit from U.S. District Judge Susan Illston's late September sentence, though no formal appeal has been filed with the circuit court yet.
