Ex-Orthofix Sales Manager Pleads Guilty To Medicare Fraud

Law360, New York (October 31, 2012, 6:19 PM EDT) -- A former sales manager at medical device manufacturer Orthofix Inc. pled guilty Wednesday in Pennsylvania federal court to health care fraud in connection with the forging of patient records to obtain $250,000 in illegitimate Medicare reimbursements, prosecutors said.

Brian Racey faces 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and a requirement to pay restitution when he’s sentenced in February for falsifying paperwork to trick the federal health insurance program into covering bone-growth stimulation equipment, according to prosecutors.
