Humana Inks $850M Deal To Buy Metropolitan Health

Law360, New York (November 5, 2012, 2:44 PM EST) -- Health insurer Humana Inc. has snapped up medical services organization Metropolitan Health Networks Inc. in an $850 million deal aimed at expanding its Medicare and Medicaid health care solutions business, the companies announced Monday.

Louisville, Ky.-based Humana will pay MHN shareholders $11.25 per share, a nearly 4 percent premium over its stock price close Friday, for a total price of $500 million. Humana will also pick up $350 million in outstanding debt from the Boca Raton, Fla.-based company, according to the insurer.
