Insurer Can't Add Towing Cos. To RV Fridge Fire Suit

Law360, New York (November 5, 2012, 7:28 PM EST) -- A Florida federal judge on Monday dismissed American Security Insurance Co.'s claims against three contractors that allegedly damaged evidence in a suit over fire-prone fridges in recreational vehicles, ruling that the court cannot assert supplemental jurisdiction as to the claims.

The insurance company said that Red's OK Auto & Truck Repair Inc., CoPart Inc. and Transit Pros LLC “destroyed the salvage and evidentiary value of the motor home” when they attempted to transport one of the RVs in which a fridge fire occurred, and it accused...
