Calif.'s $120M NRG Car Charging Pact Gets Federal Approval

Law360, San Diego (November 6, 2012, 11:45 PM EST) -- The California Public Utilities Commission said Monday that its $120 million settlement with NRG Energy Inc. resolving claims over the state's 2000-2001 electricity crisis had obtained federal approval, weeks after beating a challenge claiming the deal would give NRG a monopoly over electric vehicle charging stations.

The approval comes weeks after a state appeals court knocked down NRG rival ECOtality Inc.'s case claiming the deal would give the company an unfair monopoly on installing electric vehicle charging stations throughout California.
