JPMorgan, SEC Reach Settlements Over MBS Probes

Law360, New York (November 8, 2012, 1:06 PM EST) -- JPMorgan Chase & Co. said Thursday it had agreed in principle to resolve U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission investigations and possible civil suits over whether the bank misled investors in offerings of mortgage-backed securities.

In the firm’s third-quarter filing with the SEC, JPMorgan said it had tentatively resolved potential claims against units J.P. Morgan Securities LLC and J.P. Morgan Acceptance Corp. I relating to delinquency disclosures in connection with a single MBS offering, as well as potential claims relating to settlements of claims against the originators...
