Fraudster, 2nd Man Indicted In Plot To Kill NY Judge, Prosecutor

Law360, New York (November 9, 2012, 4:55 PM EST) -- New York federal prosecutors indicted an imprisoned Long Island financial fraudster and his alleged accomplice on Thursday, formally accusing the two men of hatching a murder-for-hire plot targeting a Brooklyn federal judge and an assistant U.S. attorney.

Defendant Joseph Romano devised the plot from within the Nassau County Correctional Center, where he is serving a 15-year sentence for his role in a $40 million scheme to overinflate the value of collectible coins, according to court filings.
