Ex-Exec Pleads Guilty To Bribing Nigerian Petrol Co.

Law360 (November 6, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A former executive for oil-and-gas services company Willbros Group Inc. has pled guilty to bribing officials at Nigeria's state-run petroleum company in exchange for pipeline construction contracts.

Jason Edward Steph, the former senior executive in charge of WGI's international business pleaded guilty on Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He admitted to conspiring to pay officials at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. and its subsidiary over $6 million in late 2003, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
