EPA Inks Settlement Over Pulp Mill Emissions Standards

Law360, New York (November 14, 2012, 6:49 PM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reached a settlement Wednesday with three environmental groups demanding that the agency update 26-year-old emissions standards for kraft pulp mills, agreeing to issue a proposed rule or determination addressing the regulation within the next six months.

Under the settlement, the EPA will review the new source performance standards covering kraft pulp mills and by May 15 will either propose new emissions standards or determine that no update is necessary. If the EPA does decide a change is warranted, the agency agreed...
