Wal-Mart Expands Internal Bribery Probe To China, Elsewhere

Law360, New York (November 15, 2012, 2:56 PM EST) -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said Thursday that it had broadened its internal investigation concerning possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act to include its operations in China, Brazil and India as it continues to probe allegations that it bribed officials to further its expansion in Mexico.

The retailer is conducting a voluntary, global review of its policies and internal controls for FCPA compliance, and is also working on bulking up its anti-corruption programs, Wal-Mart said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission....
