Former GE Execs Push For Bail While Appealing Convictions

Law360, New York (November 15, 2012, 9:06 PM EST) -- Three former General Electric Co. finance executives on Thursday asked the Second Circuit to release them on bail while they appeal convictions for municipal bond-related bid rigging, arguing their alleged conspiracy ended outside the statute of limitations.

The government waited too long to charge the defendants for fraud and then concocted a novel theory to artificially enlarge the statute of limitations, a lawyer for Steven E. Goldberg, Dominick P. Carollo and Peter S. Grimm told a three-judge panel at oral arguments.
