Texas High Court Won't Rehear Landmark Ledbetter Act Case

Law360, Houston (November 16, 2012, 8:49 PM EST) -- The Texas Supreme Court on Friday refused to reconsider its earlier ruling that the Lilly Ledbetter Act doesn’t apply to claims made under the state’s anti-discrimination law, ending an Indian professor’s fair pay lawsuit because it was filed too late.

Without comment, the high court denied Diljit K. Chatha’s motion for rehearing, marking the end of the road for the Prairie View A&M University professor’s suit and reaffirming its 7-2 decision that the deadline for filing her suit under the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act...
