Illinois Tool Wins $5.55M Verdict In Car Intake Patent Row

Law360, New York (November 26, 2012, 1:14 PM EST) -- A California federal jury last week ordered MOC Products Co. Inc. to pay $5.55 million after finding the company infringed an Illinois Tool Works Inc. patent covering technology for cleaning automotive intake systems.

The jury found MOC — which sells tools and products used for automotive maintenance and cleaning — liable for willful infringement of U.S. Patent Number 6,073,638, and said the company should pay ITW $4.45 million for lost profits and another $1.1 million in royalties, according to a verdict handed down on Nov. 19. ...
