American Greetings Prevails In $95M Cartoon IP Deal Suit

Law360, New York (November 21, 2012, 3:46 PM EST) -- An Ohio federal jury has found American Greetings Corp. wasn’t liable for backing out of a $95 million sale of its Care Bear and Strawberry Shortcake characters to French entertainment company Moonscoop SAS.

Following a four-day trial that capped off more than three years of litigation, twelve Ohio jurors handed down a unanimous verdict Nov. 16 that American Greetings hadn’t breached a contract when the character deal went south.
