Judge Curbs Reexamination of Magma Chip Patents

Law360 (August 31, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a new twist in litigation between semiconductor industry rivals, a restraining order was placed on defendant Magma Design Automation Inc., preventing the company from seeking reexamination of two patents in the case. Plaintiff Synopsys Inc. sought the order to prevent reexamination without its input, after alleging true ownership of the patents.
