IBM Settles Patent Dispute Over Semiconductor Technology

Law360 (August 31, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- International Business Machines reached an out-of-court agreement Tuesday with a university research group for alleged infringement of a computer chip patent.

The agreement settles litigation filed in November 2004 in which Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) accused New York-based IBM of using technology developed by one of its researchers.

WARF, the group that administers patents obtained by researchers at the University of Wisconsin, filed the complaint U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. The agreement settles all outstanding litigation currently attached to the patent,...
