CIT Denies Samsung's Bid For Duty-Free TV Imports

Law360, New York (November 21, 2012, 8:14 PM EST) -- Samsung International Inc. is not entitled to duty-free treatment of imports of plasma televisions under the North American Free Trade Agreement, a U.S. Court of International Trade judge ruled Wednesday, granting summary judgment to the federal government.

In a complaint filed in 2010, Samsung claimed that U.S. Customs and Border Protection wrongly classified its TVs as subject to a 5 percent duty when they should have qualified for tariff-free status.
