Apple Faces Another Patent Challenge For iPod

Law360, New York (August 31, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Apple Computer may be facing a patent challenge over technology in its popular iPod personal music player, with competitor Creative Technologies winning the race to patent a key feature of the device.

While California-based Apple’s product has gained popularity worldwide since its launch in late 2001, Singapore’s Creative Technologies claims to have used the technology in an earlier product, the 2000 version of its Nomad Jukebox.

Creative Technologies applied for its patent in early 2001, while Apple’s first application is dated July 2002.
