AUO Exec Had No Authority In LCD Price-Fixing, Jury Hears

Law360, San Francisco (November 26, 2012, 7:57 PM EST) -- AU Optronics Corp. executive Steven Leung had no authority to fix the prices of liquid-crystal display screens, Leung's attorney told California jurors Monday, the first day of his retrial in a case that netted a $500 million fine for the company and jail sentences for two other executives.

AUO was indicted in 2010 on charges that it conspired with LG Display Co. Ltd., Toshiba Corp. and other companies from 2001 to 2006 to drive up prices for LCD panels used in computers and televisions. As a...
