Head Of Brazil Antitrust Watchdog Gives OK To Airline Merger

Law360, New York (November 26, 2012, 8:31 PM EST) -- The head of Brazil's antitrust watchdog has approved the merger of domestic airlines Azul SA and Trip Linhas Aereas SA, clearing the way for the consolidation of the country's third largest airline.

The General Superintendence of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense, or CADE — Brazil's antitrust authority — on Nov. 22 issued an official opinion approving the transaction under the requirement that the companies phase out over in the next two years a joint agreement to share certain flights.
