USPTO Director Kappos To Step Down

Law360, Washington (November 26, 2012, 7:32 PM EST) -- U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Director David Kappos announced Monday that he will leave the regulatory body in January, marking the end of a widely celebrated 3 1/2-year administration that featured nationwide agency expansion, key patent reform and heightened transparency.

Kappos, who has been at the helm of the office since August 2009, announced the move via an email to USPTO employees, but did not elaborate on his future plans or the reasoning behind his decision.
