Devon Energy Fights Investor's $200M Verdict At Texas Court

Law360, Houston (November 29, 2012, 11:07 PM EST) -- Devon Energy Production Co. LP and Dallas billionaire Trevor Rees-Jones on Thursday asked a Texas appeals court to toss a $200 million award to an investor who claims he was cheated out of his interest in a company Devon acquired for $2.2 billion.

Roger D. Townsend, who represents Rees-Jones, the former owner of Chief Holdings LLC, argued that D. Bobbitt Noel Jr. signed an agreement waiving legal claims against his client when he redeemed his initial $560 investment for $6.5 million.
