Hershey Moves To Ax Investor's Suit Over African Child Labor

Law360, Wilmington (November 27, 2012, 8:59 PM EST) -- Hershey Co. asked a Delaware judge on Tuesday to dismiss a pension fund shareholder's lawsuit seeking internal corporate records to back allegations that the iconic chocolate company is complicit in child labor violations by its African cocoa suppliers.

The shareholder, Louisiana Municipal Police Employees’ Retirement System, has failed to establish a “credible basis” to suspect mismanagement at the Pennsylvania-based candy maker, rendering its information demand a mere “fishing expedition,” Hershey said in a brief filed with the court.
