Judge Upholds $128M Patent Suit Verdict Against Boston Communications Group

Law360 (September 1, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge in Massachusetts on Thursday upheld a jury's $128 million patent infringement verdict against Boston Communications Group Inc. and Cingular Wireless over patents for prepaid wireless technology.

U.S. District Judge Edward F. Harrington denied Boston Communications Group Inc.'s motion to reduce a jury's May 20 damages award.

Boston Communications and Cingular had asked Judge Harrington to invalidate Freedom's patents due to what they claimed was an effort to mislead the patent office by failing to disclose certain prior art.

But Harrington found no merit...
