Sen. Says FTC Needn't Probe Google, Meddle In Search Market

Law360, New York (November 28, 2012, 6:21 PM EST) -- Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., blasted the Federal Trade Commission on Monday over its ongoing and increasingly publicized antitrust investigation of Google Inc., telling the regulator that the online search industry was not in need of government intervention.

Wyden — an outspoken critic of Internet regulation — sent a letter to FTC Chair Jon Leibowitz, saying he was “alarmed” by reports that the FTC is probing for monopolistic activity in “the most highly competitive, innovative and dynamic” marketplace in the country.
